I took my puppy Pumpkin on his first Appalachian Trail hike Dec. 11. It was a great way to spend my 41st birthday.

If you find yourself on the AT along Peter’s Mountain in Dauphin, Pa., be aware that PPL is doing work on power lines and there may be equipment moving from the road to the line along the trail. It follows an access road that was lined with wood chips.

Also, the NPS has installed cameras to catch those spray painting the rocks. Don’t do it. Leave it as it is.
