Jim T. Ryan is a journalist, photographer and outdoorsman living near Harrisburg, Pa. He enjoys camping, backpacking, fishing, rock climbing and most other organized sports.

Jim grew up near the Catskill Mountains of New York and in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. It was kind of hard to avoid backpacking, climbing, canoeing, fishing and hunting. Wandering off to play in the woods was a regular pastime.
